North Georgia Weather
Located in the
North Georgia Mountains are several
small tourist towns called Blue Ridge,
Ellijay and Helen. There are many
adjectives that describe these towns,
cabins, attractions and weather. Beside
the quaint town atmosphere and rich
history, the North Georgia mountains
have beautiful weather. Almost perfect
for residents and tourists alike.
Fall
Probably the best season to visit
the North Georgia mountains. The weather
in North Georgia hasn't quite reached
freezing at night and typically reaches
the mid 50's Fahrenheit during the day.
The weather hovers around the lower 40's
at night.
Because of the
cooler weather at night, the leaves have
started to change colors. Beautiful
reds, yellows and oranges cover the
landscape of the North Georgia
Mountains. Beautiful views and scenic
driving routes become very popular
during these few months. The fall is
definitely a very popular time in the
North Georgia Mountains.
Having camp fires
and roasting marshmallows is something
to consider during this cool weather.
Spring
By mid-March, Northern Georgia has
started reaching spring weather. The
spring months in Blue Ridge, Ellijay and
Helen GA are not bad, but they are very
unpredictable. One day it might be 75
Fahrenheit and the next it might be 40
and windy. Spring is still a good time
to visit North Georgia, but not the
ideal time.
These few months
typically see a lot rain.
Summer
An exciting time to visit the North
Georgia mountains. These few months
should be highly considered when
planning a vacation to Blue Ridge, Helen
or Ellijay. The weather is typically
very consistent. Highs reach into low
90's Fahrenheit while the nights are
much cooler at about 70 degrees. During
the summer months, these towns do not
see much rain.
If you are an
adventurous type person, then the summer
months are for you. One thing North
Georgia offers is tourists are outdoor
activities. From hiking to cycling to
horseback riding, the North Georgia
mountains have it all.
Winter
These few months can be very cold
but the lows at night typically drop to
about freezing. A few times a year the
lows will drop into the teens but this
does not happen too often.
Snow is rare, but
snow does blanket the North Georgia
mountains about a 4 or 5 times year.
There is not a ski resort here. The
closest ski resort is Ober Gatlinburg.
There is a chance
for icing almost every time it rains, so
consider driving a four wheel drive
vehicle during the winter months. |
